To save on the cost of the process we encourage you to prepare your material prior to your appointment. Here’s a step-by-step guide to properly prepare a surface:
🔧 1. Choose Your Surface
- Water chroming works on plastics, metals, glass, ceramics, wood, and more.
- Ensure the object is medium heat-resistant (120 f ) and can withstand water and chemicals.
🧽 2. Clean the Surface Thoroughly
- Wash with soap and water to remove dirt, grease, and oils.
- Use isopropyl alcohol or degreaser to eliminate any remaining residue.
- Avoid touching the cleaned surface with bare hands—use gloves.
🪵 3. Sand the Surface Smooth
- Start with 320- and go to 800 to 1000-grit sandpaper, wet sanding if necessary. The higher the grit to smoother the surface.
- For plastic or rough surfaces, you may need to fill imperfections with putty and sand again.
Note: Our shop can and will prepare your surfaces, but preparation is an additional charge
